Château Fontbonne

Welcome to Château Fontbonne, a family estate nestled in the heart of the prestigious Bordeaux wine region. For three generations, our vineyard has passed on our passion and expertise for wine, symbolizing the elegance and tradition of French winemaking.

The Roots of Resilience

1938

In the wake of Spain's dark days under Franco, Edouard and his sister Henriette Palomera, bearers of hopes and dreams, set foot on the promised land of Château Fontbonne. Their story, woven of exile and courage, became the first chapter in an extraordinary family saga.

Passing on the Legacy

1993

After years of sharecropping, the torch passed into the hands of Philippe RENIER, a man with a singular background, from butchery to vineyards. Under his aegis, Château Fontbonne awoke to a new era. With the construction of the first winery, the nectar from the vines began to flow, marking the renewal of the estate.

The Ascension

1995 - 2000

The following years were a ballet of triumphs and innovations. Château Fontbonne, once dormant, began to dance to the rhythm of the seasons. The first bottling in 1995, membership of the Vignerons Indépendants in 1998, and the creation of Cuvée Marie in 1999 - each step was another in our progress.

Expansion and Inspiration

2002 - 2010

The new millennium brought expansion and prosperity. Sylvie Guillou joined her husband in this adventure, expanding the domain of their dreams. New vineyards were acquired, and new cuvées, such as the tribute to the godfather in 2006, were born, each telling a unique story.

Renaissance and Heritage

2013 - 2018

The arrival of Marie, Philippe's daughter, brought a breath of fresh air. Trained in oenology, she returned from the distant lands of New Zealand. Together, father and daughter launched the bold OUR HANDS range, symbolizing the fusion of generations and traditions.

A New Chapter

2022

Today, Château Fontbonne continues to write its history. With the launch of new cuvées in 2022, the estate remains at the forefront of viticulture, while cherishing the roots planted nearly a century ago.
